A New Dress. A Thousand Smiles.

There's something magical about a child's smile when they receive a gift — a brand new dress, chosen with care, wrapped with love, and given with the message: You matter. You are seen. You are loved.

This is the spirit of Gift a Smile — Youth Forum's flagship community welfare campaign that distributed new garments to over 200 underprivileged and orphaned children during the 2024 festival season.

The Campaign

As Durga Puja approached, Youth Forum's volunteers identified children from orphanages, shelters, and extremely poor families who would not receive new clothes for the festival — a deeply important tradition in Bengali culture.

With donor support, we procured 200+ sets of new, quality garments — carefully sized for children aged 2 to 16.

On distribution day:

  • Volunteers set up a cheerful area with balloons and lights
  • Each child received a new outfit personally handed by a volunteer
  • Snacks and refreshments were shared
  • Songs, games, and laughter filled the air

The Faces We Will Never Forget

Mou, aged 6, held her new dress tightly and whispered: "No one ever gave me something this nice before."

Rahul, aged 12, who had never owned a new piece of clothing, wore his new shirt immediately and walked around showing everyone proudly.
