Karuna means compassion. Seva means service. Bandhan means bond. Together, these three words define one of Youth Forum's most heartfelt initiatives — a program ensuring that the elderly and forgotten in our community know they are not alone.
On 20th August 2024, a team of Youth Forum volunteers visited Ashoka Niketan, an elderly home in South 24 Parganas, carrying carefully assembled medical kits for each resident.
Each kit included:
80+ residents received kits. But beyond the kits, they received something priceless — time, attention, and human connection.
Our volunteers didn't just drop the kits and leave. They sat with the residents, listened to their stories, sang songs, shared meals, and spent the afternoon just being present.
"These young people reminded me that the world still cares. I hadn't spoken to anyone in three days before they came."
We plan to expand to 5 elderly homes across South 24 Parganas by mid-2025. Each visit requires approximately ₹15,000. You can sponsor a visit, donate medicines, or volunteer to spend an afternoon with the residents.
