As Mahalaya dawned on 2nd October 2025 — heralding the arrival of Goddess Durga and the beginning of the festive season — Youth Forum volunteers gathered not for celebration, but for seva (service).
Under our 'Sarod Argho' (Autumn Offering) initiative, Youth Forum organised a community drive to collect and donate inner garments to the children at two orphanages in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas: Anandaghar and Apanjan. These homes shelter some of our district's most vulnerable children — HIV-positive children and those with mental and intellectual disabilities — who often go unseen even during the festive season.
Over 200 inner garments were collected through a local donation drive in Subhasgram and personally delivered to both orphanages by our volunteers. But we brought more than garments — we brought time, laughter, and love. Volunteers sat with the children, distributed sweets, and spent the morning in joyful company.
For many of these children, a new garment is not just a piece of cloth — it is a reminder that they are seen, that they are valued, and that there are people in this world who care. That is the spirit of Sarod Argho: an offering of compassion at the most auspicious time of the year.
Youth Forum extends its deepest gratitude to every donor and volunteer who made this possible. As we say: Spread Love, Spread Humanity.
