Project Soumiparna Mitra — Cancer Emergency Aid

In late 2024, Youth Forum received a desperate call from the parents of their neighbour — 17-year-old Soumiparna Mitra, who had been battling cancer for five years. She urgently required a bone marrow transplant costing ₹6.5 lakhs. Recognising the power of community, Youth Forum launched an emergency crowdfunding campaign through social media and direct appeals. Within one month, approximately ₹3.2 lakhs was raised and channelled directly through the patient and her mother's joint bank account — ensuring complete transparency. This heartfelt campaign was more than a fundraising effort; it became a turning point for Youth Forum. The experience highlighted the critical importance of being a formally registered organisation — to raise funds more transparently, reach more people, and support larger causes. On 24th December 2024, Youth Forum was officially registered as a trust. Project Soumiparna Mitra is remembered as the catalyst that transformed a passionate volunteer group into a structured, registered NGO. Today, it fuels our commitment to medical emergency support as a core pillar of our work.
